Three Articles of Faith

Christian Holiness

The Church of the Nazarene teaches that holiness is at the heart of Christian living. This doctrine  includes both personal holiness (a life lived in righteousness, free from sin) and social holiness (a commitment to justice, compassion, and care for others).

The Triune God

The Church of the Nazarene holds to the doctrine of the Trinity, which means that God exists as one in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. This teaching is central to our understanding of God’s nature and the work of salvation.

Salvation by Grace

The Church of the Nazarene teaches that salvation is available through God’s grace and is received by faith. This principle includes the belief that God’s grace goes before a person’s decision to follow Christ, enabling them to respond to God’s call to salvation.

What Our Church Family Believes

At South Pittsburg Church of the Nazarene – also known as the Family Worship Center – we are a community of believers committed to loving God, loving people, and living out our faith through the power of Jesus Christ. Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture and shaped by the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition of the Church of the Nazarene.

Here’s what we believe:

1. God
We believe in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who created all things and desires a personal relationship with each of us.

2. Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, who came to earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and now reigns in glory. Through Him, we find forgiveness, purpose, and eternal life.

3. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is at work in the world and in us, convicting, comforting, guiding, and empowering believers to live holy lives.

4. The Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word, revealing His truth, love, and will for our lives. It is our final authority for faith and practice.

5. Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift from God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It brings forgiveness, freedom from sin, and a new life in Christ.

6. Holiness
We believe in the call to holiness—that God empowers us, through the Holy Spirit, to live lives of love, obedience, and service. We strive to be Christlike in all we do.

7. The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ on earth, made up of all who believe in Him. As a local church, we gather to worship, grow, serve, and share the Good News with our community and the world.

8. The Second Coming
We believe Jesus Christ will return, as promised, to restore all things and reign forever. Until then, we live with hope and purpose, eagerly awaiting His return.

Roadmap To Salvation

Do You Want A Life Changed by God’s Grace?
Here’s How You Can Know Him Today:

At South Pittsburg Church of the Nazarene (Family Worship Center), we believe that salvation is the greatest gift God offers us — a restored relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. It’s not about religion or rule-keeping; it’s about a personal encounter with God’s love and a new life made possible by His grace.

Why Do We Need to Be Saved?

The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from God, and no amount of good deeds can fix that separation. But God, in His love, made a way for us to be forgiven and made new — through Jesus Christ.

What Has God Done?

God sent His Son, Jesus, to live a perfect life, die on the cross for our sins, and rise from the grave. His resurrection conquered sin and death so we could be restored to a right relationship with God (John 3:16, Romans 5:8).

How Can I Be Saved?

Salvation is a gift — we don’t earn it, we receive it through faith. Here’s how:

1. Admit Your Need (Repentance)
Recognize that you have sinned and need God’s forgiveness. Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God (Acts 3:19).

2. Believe in Jesus Christ
Believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for your sins and rose again. Accept Him into your heart and trust Him as your Savior and Lord (Romans 10:9-10).

3. Confess and Receive
Speak it with your mouth and believe it in your heart and mind — and receive the gift of salvation. When we confess Jesus as Lord, we are saved (Romans 10:13).

4. Live the New Life
Salvation is just the beginning. God calls us not only to be forgiven but also to be transformed — to live a holy life, set apart for His purpose, through the power of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17, 1 Thessalonians 4:7).

A Lifelong Journey

In the Church of the Nazarene, we believe salvation is both a moment and a journey. You are saved when you trust Christ, but you are also being sanctified — continually shaped into Christlikeness as you grow in faith and obedience, guided by the Holy Word of God, The Bible. This is the journey of holiness, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Missions and Giving

Tithes and offerings play a crucial role in enabling the church to fulfill its mission both locally and globally. By giving, we support the church’s operations, including ministry programs, outreach efforts, and community services that touch the lives of those in need. These financial contributions help fund vital initiatives such as feeding the hungry, providing shelter, supporting youth and family ministries, and advancing global missions. Moreover, tithes and offerings empower the church to serve as a beacon of hope, spreading God’s love and compassion to people inside and outside the congregation. When we give, we participate in God’s work, and our generosity not only sustains the church but also makes a lasting impact on individuals and communities around the world.
